about this site

Bauhaus Shrine.com is inspired by and dedicated to David J, Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins.
Since the mid-1980's, these four gentlemen both together and individually have been the driving force of my musical
interests and taken up the majority of my vast music library. However, I hope that it is apparent that they
mean much more to me than simply being four brilliantly talented musicians.

In the 20 or so years that have passed since becoming a fan, I have always followed the members of Bauhaus to
see how they were either interpreting the changing musical environment or rebelling against it. Their music has been and remains my refuge during both the good and the bad times that have shaped my life to this point. In particular, when I was diagnosed with brain cancer in March of 2003, my Bauhaus related cds provided the soundtrack for my daily 6am train rides into Boston for my radiation treatments and also continue to provide an aural distraction from the recurring nausea of my monthly chemotherapy doses. In addition to this, my friendship with David J has meant the world to me as many of my friends and employers have tossed me aside due to the inability to deal with my grim prognosis and continuing struggle to stay alive. For this, I want to send a special thank you out to David for all he has done and continues to do to brighten my days.
Finally, I also owe a special debt of gratitude to Bauhaus as it is through a shared interest in their music
that I met my long time girlfriend/ soul mate Allison who has also been there beside me through it all since 2000.
I will always be grateful and thankful that she is in my life.

The title of this site started as a joke between David J and me about five years ago while he was visiting my apartment outside of Boston. Seeing my collection of Bauhaus related items on display, he remarked that it was like a little shrine. Since then, whenever I see David in person or receive something in the mail from him, he generally has put something aside that he proceeds to pass along to me saying 'here is a little something for the shrine'. That is how I have obtained some of the items included but others have been acquired personally from Peter, Danny and Kevin or won from online auctions including, but not limited to, David's several auctions on Ebay to fund the release of his cd Estranged. Peter Murphy's stage used sandals were won by me on Peter's Yahoo auction to raise money for Turkish earthquake relief in 2000 where I also donated a book of my photos of Peter that he then decorated with lyrics and insights before being auctioned off to a very lucky bidder.
Other items have been gifts or picked up in various record shows and stores across the country.

The photographs on this site (with the exception of the few that include me) have all been taken by me between the years of 1992 and 2005. I have been involved in photography since 1987 and it is through this that I have been able to meet and have access to Peter, David, Kevin and Danny over the years. My greatest photographic dream was realized last April, thanks to David, when I was invited to attend and photograph the pre-Coachella warm-up Bauhaus show at the Glass House in Pomona, CA. I can't adequately describe the feeling of looking through my camera's viewfinder and seeing Bauhaus performing. It was also a thrill in the months that followed to see that one of my photos of Peter and David together
onstage was used heavily in promotion of the recent Near The Atmosphere Tour.

I would now like to point out that nothing on this site is for sale. The purpose of this site is simply to share my photographs and memorabilia with Bauhaus fans around the world. Additionally, these photographs are all copyrighted and may not be used anywhere without my permission. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments by sending me an email at bauhausshrine@yahoo.com. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this. Enjoy!
